Dr Bipin Bihari Mishra. Does the name ring a bell? Well, Dr Mishra, a former officer in Indian Navy is a nationally acclaimed philanthropist and ace environment activist. Dr Mishra, 61, was born in a small village in Keonjhar district of Odisha. Dr Mishra was educated and got settled in Mumbai. He and his celebrated social activist wife Dr Sukanti Mishra have also been beacons of hope for hapless cancer patients.

Being a multifaceted personality, Dr Bipin Bihari Mishra has been an exceptional social leader, dedicated community developer, top notch social influencer, outstanding organiser, erudite editor, astounding grass root communicator, awesome pro-poor policymaker, amazing mass mobiliser and above all a lovable people’s person.

“Service to the needy and the society at large comes naturally to those who actually want to serve people. It’s a selfess passion and my experience experience in Navy which taught me many lessons came handy,” said Dr Mishra who has had the privilege of holding an array of positions of eminence like President of Bombay Odia Mahasangha, President of Lion’s Club Bhubaneswar, President of All India Brahman Mahasangha, President of World Odisha Society’s India Chapter, National Secretary of Anti-Corruption Intelligence Committee, life-member of Indian Red Cross Society, Editor of weekly newspaper Mumbai Odia Samaj and Chief Editor of research journal Eco-Connect. Being the Founder of Suryakhetra Foundation of Education and Charitable Trust alongwith his illustrious wife Dr Sukanti Mishra, both the couple have been rendering remarkable services in the field of treatment of needy cancer patients, ensuring affordable health care, spreading quality education, availing sustainable livelihood, facilitating water management, promoting afforestation, protecting environment and empowering tribal communities across the country.

“Our Save Water campaign has brought massive awareness and transformation in using water judiciously. His huge efforts for water conservation have resulted in lessening water pollution, enhancing agricultural production by making availabile of sufficient water, improving food security, decreasing water-borne diseases, promoting bio diversity and ecological balance by making water accessible for plants and animals,” informed an inspiring Dr Mishra.

How’s the support from the State and Central Government in the couple’s NGO activities?

” It’s good so far. We have been working relentlessly in our efforts for a clean environment and helping cancer patients for whom we are also planning to have an all-facility larger shelter home,” told Dr Bipin and Sukanti in unison whi have faced all odds in the beginning but kept their spirit high to reach this stage.

Ask Dr Mishra how does he relax after being involved in so much social works, he sayid politely, “There’s is no better relaxation and satisfaction than making so many people being able to smile.”
